Echoing Silence
A recent dalliance with the historic town of Bardstown, KY resulted in the discovery of the written works of the Asian-inspired, jazz-loving, writer/poet/monk Thomas Merton. I'm early in my appreciation of his considerable work generated in a life shortened by a tragic accident in Thailand, but I have already stumbled across one of the greatest sentences ever written: "Poetry is the flowering of ordinary possibilities."
